Kudumbigala Monastery  

Kudumbigala forest monastery is considered as a buddhist center built during the reign of king kawantissa it is said that this temple was built by his ten giants .
                        This area wich was the homeland of the great arahants in the past was wild .this place was later rediscovered in the jungle in 1942 by a christian who became a mairteya worshiper.

It also known as Rohana chethiya ,kutaliya wiharaya and kutumbagiriya .
 
Convering an area of over a thousand acres , it consist of five main rocks. Located bitween ampara deegawapiya and yala situlpawwa,there  are were than filty caves .

Archaeological monnments can be found many places.Beautiful ponds, located in the center of the area. There are drip -lined caves .

 




 










Route :At 14km from Monaragala /Ampara ,pottuvil ,panama ,kumana National parak entrance ,you will find the name plate .from there turn right and go about 1.5km from there turn right and go about 1.5 km you can even take a normal bus .
